About Me

My photo
I love Jesus. I love my family. I love photography. I love books. I love thinking. Probably in that order. I have a wonderful husband, five beautiful daughters, a house, and a camera. I enjoy spending time talking to my husband, playing with my girls, redecorating my house and shooting things with my camera. In my spare time, I sleep.

A little Mommy humor...

This is a little joke I recieved in my email that made me giggle.  Thought I'd pass the giggle on.  :)

"A man observed a woman in the grocery store with a three year old girl in her basket. As they passed the cookie section, the child asked for cookies and her mother told her "no." The little girl immediately began to whine and fuss, and the mother said quietly, "Now Ellen, we just have half of the aisles left to go through; don't be upset. It won't be long."

He passed the Mother again in the candy aisle. Of course, the little girl began to shout for candy. When she was told she couldn't have any, she began to cry. The mother said, "There, there, Ellen, don't cry. Only two more aisles to go, and then we'll be checking out."

The man again happened to be behind the pair at the check-out, where the little girl immediately began to clamour for gum and burst into a terrible tantrum upon discovering there would be no gum purchased today. The mother patiently said, "Ellen, we'll be through this check out stand in five minutes, and then you can go home and have a nice nap."

The man followed them out to the parking lot and stopped the woman to compliment her. "I couldn't help noticing how patient you were with little Ellen..."

The mother broke in, "My little girl's name is Tammy... I'm Ellen.""

Before & After: Love is in the air

So I had two engagement shoots this week and love was definetly in the air!  I think if I were to specialize in any particular aspect of photography I would totally pick engagement shoots because it is just so lovely to be let into the love & excitement of a couple looking toward a life together and being allowed to capture the private moments, the looks, the personality of their love.  Plus...they are so willing & able to play along with me. (unlike children!) *wink*  Anyway...I had a hard time choosing which photo to share but I finally settled on this one because I really like and the edit was less subtle than some of the others.  I took it using my Canon Rebel XT & edited it in Paint Shop Pro 9.

Before & After: The Dress

This week's photo was one I took several weeks ago when I went with my sister for one of her wedding dress fittings.  Since we didn't want photos of her in her dress all over before the big day I didn't post them here...but now that she's officially a Mrs.  I guess I can share!  :)

After (edit):

I took this photo with my Canon Rebel XT and edited it in Paint Shop Pro.

Cute things my kids have said--Part VI

September 7, 2010:  My baby girl is ham! Acacia kept making this cheesy smile face with her head thrown back & her eyes all squinty! I laughed so hard I cried and had a gut ache.

September 8, 2010:  When I got up my girls were in the living room with their huge tub of crayons dumped on the floor sorting out the "sparkly ones" & the "naked ones" from the rest.

September 9, 2010:  Yesterday I asked Eden who her best friend is, She said, "Teagan, I mean Shawn." Then Jasmine spoke up and said, "nuh uh...it's me!"

September 9, 2010:  Eden--"Jill's my aunt. She's like an ant with legs." The really funny part was her gestures when she said "with legs"

September 14, 2010:  For some unknown reason, my two older girls have started calling Acacia, "Scrungy"

September 17, 2010:  Acacia got her second tooth (front lower left) and she started saying "uh oh."

September 19, 2010:  Eden talking to Jasmine at the dinner table, "'Stupid' is a bad word." "'Idiot' is a bad word." "What else is a bad word? Let's see, I already said 'stupid' and 'idiot'...hmm 'shut up'. Oh yeah..'shut up' is also a bad word."

September 20, 2010:  Eden was telling me that Jasmine's imaginary boyfriend, Arthur, cut her imaginary boyfriend, Nathan's, arm and then Nathan cut Arthur's arm and then the doctor told them that they should be friends so they told each other their names. Now they are playing basketball together.

September 20, 2010:  Jasmine: "I'm not saying bad words, I'm saying good words. Like, A cat must be in trouble but I don't hear a cat."

September 23, 2010:  Jasmine's first words to me in the morning: "My sleep was about flowers."

September 24, 2010:  First thing in the morning Jasmine says to me, "I love you, Mom. I wish there was ice cream snow in our yard."

October 5, 2010:  Acacia said, "Kitty"

October 6, 2010:  Acacia can say, "Eden"

October 6, 2010:  We saw a preview for Disney's Tangled...and there is a part where the girl (I'm assuming Rapunzel) drops her hair and it falls on the guys head and knocks him down...Eden says, "When I grow up I want to hit a guy like that!"

October 6, 2010:  Jasmine came up to me and said, "I love you as big as the outside world and I love you as big as the inside world. That's how much I love you!"

Love that Shot: Faces

Found a new photography blog called Love that Shot and decided to enter one of my smash the cake photos of Acacia in their Link-Up...this week's judges are Angie & Amy from I Heart Faces!  Kind of fun!

For this photo, I set up a backdrop in her room, I bounced my flash off her white wall for better light.  In processing I selected & darkened the background in brightness/contrast and softened it a little bit.  I upped contrast on the baby a tad and slight sharpening.

My Sister's Wedding

Well, I'm home after a long weekend of preparing, celebrating & cleaning up after my little sister's wedding and I am exhausted!  I was the maid of honor so I was running around like a chicken with it's head cut off taking care of all the little details.  As such I took precious few photos of the day myself.  But I am happy for the ones I did get and I am anxious to see and enjoy the ones that the photographer took while I did what I needed to do!  Anyway of the few photos I did take, I got a couple that I really liked and wanted to share them. Then I'm off to bed!
