My little Eden-girl is turning 5 in a week. Yesterday as we sat together on the recliner we discussed what she wants her birthday cakes to be "themed" in the coming years. This year she wants a castle cake. Then she says, "When I turn six I want a monkey cake; when I turn seven I want a cupcake cake like Jasmine is having when she turns three, when I turn eight I want a flower cake, when I turn nine I want a butterfly cake....when I turn thirteen I want a phone cake..." And as she went year by year, I could almost see her growing up before my very eyes...my little girl slowly becoming a young woman. It was humbling because I know that it really will pass almost that quickly. Already I have blinked and my 5lb 14oz baby is about to turn 5!! I smiled at her as she talked of all the birthdays to come with a little lump in my throat and I squeezed her a little tighter and kissed her cheek a little more deliberately...soaking up her *still* four year old sweetness while I still can.
"Your life is like the morning fog--it's here a little while, then it's gone."
James 4:14 NLT
Isn't she beautiful?

Visiting from Momentous Monday! I love that you mentioned "deliberance" in your post...I need to work on this! Anyways, she is a cutie!...all three of your girls are precious! I have 3 boys 5.5, 4 and 2.5 and then a baby girl! It's busy, huh?!
That is so cute! Sounds like a little organizer! How fun that you have all the birthdays already planned out. :)

great post! that is exactly the topic of my momentous monday. i even looked up that verse this morning as a reminder of how precious and fleeting this life really is.
thank you for sharing.
those birthdays will come so quickly so as mommies we will just enjoy every single solitary moment and engrave them on our hearts to be cherished for all time!!!
She is absolutely beautiful. What a sweet memory you made! I really hate that their childhood goes so fast. Hanging on as tight as I can. {grin} Thanks for linking up!
She is beautiful! What a sweet post.
Great post! I am visiting from momentous Monday as well. You are very wise to soak it up and allow yourself to really enjoy each step. It does pass very quickly. As a mom of two girls, 12 and 9, I can assure you that you do well to enjoy the journey and stop and smell the roses along the way. (or peek at a bug, tickle toes...etc)
Enjoy!
